Board of the Master Wall Tapestry

Black drapery gives the Master’s board its quiet funerary atmosphere. A six-sided coffin stands at the center, with crossed tibias at its foot and living acacia at its head. The inscription 5 · 5 · 5, a broken column, funerary urn, hourglass, and smoking censer surround it. On a plan beside the coffin appears the 47th problem of Euclid. The familiar red and white pillars remain, bearing the plumb-rule and level jewels, but the sun and moon have departed. The board holds mortality, memory, and renewal in one solemn composition.
