Chamber of Reflection Wall Tapestry 60" x 50"

Designed for the wall facing the candidate, this tapestry gathers the emblems and admonitions of the Memphis–Misraïm Chamber of Reflection into one contemplative scene. Against a black backdrop, the rooster stands between the names of Memphis and Misraïm. Below, the scythe cuts through worldly illusions; the skull recalls mortality and the equality of all people before it. The hourglass marks the passage of time, while Sulfur, Mercury, and Salt represent the three alchemical principles.

The inscriptions at left call the candidate to self-knowledge, vigilance, and perseverance, and warn against entering through self-interest or idle curiosity. At right, an ankh rests at the heart of a pentagram within a crystal cup, evoking the life of the spirit beyond appearances. V.I.T.R.I.O.L. presides above it as an invitation to turn inward.

Restrained Egyptian ornament and candlelight preserve the chamber’s somber, reflective atmosphere.
